The Hockinson School District is dedicated to cultivating "safe, welcoming, and positive school environments that encourage student leadership, support academic learning, and uphold behavior expectations for all." View HSD Strategic Plan here.

This fall, Hockinson's schools will again organize activities that emphasize kindness and promote student connection and belonging in our school communities. HMS has organized spirit days leading up to Unity Day, while HHES has featured weekly kindness challenges and dress-up days culminating in Kindness Day. These annual efforts are aligned with national campaigns to help set the foundation for young learners to build empathy and positive relationships.

National Bullying Prevention Month is a month-long observance to educate and raise awareness about bullying and cyberbullying prevention. Addressing and preventing bullying is something that everyone can do, every day by:

  • Addressing bullying at school.

  • Talking about bullying at home.

  • Supporting and partnering with our community.

  • Seeking help.

According to PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center, Unity Day is a day when people can come together to send a visible message of building community through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. The call to action is simple: Wear and share the color orange. This vibrant statement becomes a conversation starter, showing support for students who have been bullied and for bullying prevention.
