Transitional Kindergarten Update for 2026-27 School Year
The Washington State Legislature is currently considering changes to the TK program at the state level. We are confident that we will be able to offer TK next school year, but are awaiting additional information from the legislature on the number of classes we will be able to run. We will begin TK screening appointments in March and will continue with TK enrollment after the conclusion of the legislative session.
HHES is excited to offer Transitional Kindergarten to 4-year-old students at Hockinson Heights Elementary. Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a full-day preschool program. The goal of the TK program is to get each student ready for a successful Kindergarten year by providing a high-quality early-learning experience. TK students receive instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, and social skills from a Hockinson teacher who specializes in early childhood education. Students participate in specialist classes (art, music, and PE) and attend lunch and recess during the school day.
