Students in grades 3-5 will soon participate in state testing. Each student will complete two tests in both English Language Arts and Mathematics. For each subject, students will complete a computer adaptive test (CAT) and a performance task (PT). Fifth grade students will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science.
Parents play an important part in helping their student to show what they know on the state assessment. To support your student, please ensure that your child gets adequate rest, eats a healthy breakfast, arrives at school on time, and does not miss a scheduled test day, unless they are sick. You can help put your child at ease by encouraging them to take their time and do their best and by reminding them that this assessment is just one measure of their success. At school, students have prepared for state assessments through their classroom instruction and by participating in practice exams and familiarizing themselves with the online test tools.
The test schedule for each grade is listed below.
Grade 3: English Language Arts – May 7 and 13, Mathematics – May 16 and 22
Grade 4: English Language Arts – May 2 and 8, Mathematics – May 14 and 20
Grade 5: Science – May 1, English Language Arts – May 6 and 9, Mathematics – May 15 and 21
Make up testing: May 10, 17, 23, 25, 28, 29, and 30
**Please note that if your child has special testing accommodations, they may complete their tests on a different schedule that of their class.**
