Highly Capable Program

Hockinson School District, as part of the identification process for the Highly Capable Program, will be accepting applications to the Highly Capable Program between January 7th and January 31st. Students in grades 2 - 5 are eligible for full CogAT testing. Applications will be screened and the district will be administering the full CogAT between February 11th and February 20th during regular school hours. The CogAT is designed to provide information on the level of development of cognitive skills in verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal areas. The CogAT measures a student's ability to reason with words, numbers and visual information. It is important to point out that although levels of cognitive development are important in academic success, your child's ultimate success as a student will be the result of many influences.

Second grade students currently receiving Highly Capable services will automatically be tested in the CogAT testing window. Families will be notified of the results of the CogAT and whether their student qualifies for identification for the Highly Capable Program. Full identification details can be found in the HSD Highly Capable Program Handbook online.
